Overview

Arrow Industrial was pleased to be commissioned to replace NE Plastics’ industrial door with a more robust, energy-efficient roller shutter that better suited the application.

NE Plastics’ traditional sectional overhead door to their loading bay was constantly being left open when deliveries arrived, losing heat from the building.

Being located underneath the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Dartford meant continual traffic noise, which when combined with uninterrupted windy and blustery conditions from The Thames estuary made this a demanding location for industrial doors. The scope was to provide a solution that not only reduced heat loss but could persevere working in such a challenging environment.

Our Approach

We opted for our DualAir® door as it ensured high safety and provided a unique double skinned curtain offering impressive thermal and sound insulation. The internal trellis mechanism also provided high wind resistance – up to Class 4. With an operating speed of 0.8mtr/second which afforded an open/close cycle of 15 seconds, making significant savings to heat loss.

Soon after the installation a severe weather warning was issued for extreme high winds. We took this opportunity to return to the site to gather valuable feedback from NE Plastics regarding the durability of the product under these conditions. They observed not only had there been a noticeable reduction in both road and wind noise, but the factory was also warmer, and the heating wasn’t on constantly, resulting in better working conditions for their employees and a reduction in their energy bills.
